What the estimate can tell you

Enter your current monthly benefit before Medicare deductions, select a COLA percentage, and choose whether to subtract an assumed Part B premium. The result shows a simplified gross benefit, monthly and annual increases, and a comparison after that premium. Moving the slider tests a scenario; it does not change SSA’s official COLA.

The tool cannot determine eligibility, access your Social Security record, or produce an official benefit notice. It does not compute individual PIA adjustments, hold-harmless protection, income-related Medicare surcharges, Part D or tax withholding. These exclusions and their government references are explained in the methodology. Use your SSA notice for your actual benefit amount (SSA notice information).

When figures are checked

Our update policy is to check SSA’s COLA determination each October alongside the September CPI release. SSA dates the current determination to October 14, 2026 and plans its next announcement for October 2027 (SSA summary; BLS release calendar).

We also check for the annual Part B premium announcement in the fall. Recent examples were November 8, 2024 for 2025 rates and November 14, 2025 for 2026 rates (CMS 2025 announcement; CMS 2026 announcement). Those dates are examples, not a promised 2027 release date.

The 2026 standard premium is $202.90 (CMS). No published CMS 2027 standard premium was found as of Oct 14, 2026; Medicare.gov still lists 2026 costs. The default is a 2026-based assumption, not an official 2027 amount. Change it to test a different premium.
