Editorial policy

How figures are sourced, uncertainty is labeled, and errors are corrected.

Research and fact-checking

Our policy is to use primary government sources for benefit rules and published figures: SSA for COLAs and benefit calculations, BLS for CPI-W, CMS and Medicare.gov for Medicare costs, and IRS for tax withholding. The source register records the purpose of each reference and the date it was checked. Publisher contact details are supplied by Cornelia Cove LLC.

For numerical updates, check the published year and effective date, transcribe the underlying values, recalculate the displayed example, and confirm that the calculator and API agree. Historical tables must distinguish SSA’s December effective year from the January payment year (SSA historical convention). A source’s publication date and our verification date serve different purposes.

Updates and uncertainty

We check the COLA when SSA releases its October determination, using the September CPI release as the data checkpoint (SSA announcement schedule; BLS calendar). Our policy is also to check for CMS’s annual Part B announcement in the fall and review affected copy when figures or rules change. The 2026 premium announcement, for example, was issued November 14, 2025 (CMS fact sheet).

Only an announced figure is labeled official. User-selected scenarios and unverified premiums are labeled assumptions. As of Oct 14, 2026, we found no published CMS 2027 standard Part B premium, so the $202.90 default remains a 2026-based assumption (current Medicare cost table). The site’s check date does not promise continuous monitoring.

Automation disclosure

Content is drafted with automated tools and checked against primary government sources. Automation also performs the calculator arithmetic. Cornelia Cove LLC is responsible for the published content and corrections. The tool remains an estimate with the published limitations.

Corrections

Email partners@corneliacove.com with the page URL, disputed text or number, and a primary-source link. Do not include private identifiers. Our policy is to compare the report with the source, correct confirmed errors in the affected text and data, and update the check date. If a figure remains unresolved, we label the uncertainty or remove the claim rather than publish an unsupported number.
